It’s been a tough summer.
So many events canceled and changed – including what has become a HUGELY successful Honk for Heroes event at Explore & More Children’s Museum!
The event is still happening – it’s just different. The museum is holding a ‘Reverse Parade’ to thank our Military and First Responders.
Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum and the Buffalo Naval Park along with the Buffalo Waterfront are celebrating its 2nd annual Honk for Heroes event, to salute our local essential workers, frontline workers, military personnel and first responders.
On Saturday, September 12th from 10-2 in the Buffalo News lot, the public is invited to decorate their vehicles and show their support. Firetrucks, milk trucks (and cows!), ambulances, Wegmans vehicles and more will all be on display, along with the heroes who help run them. There will be free prizes for kiddos as well as the chance for them to engage with the heroes who have done so much for our community.
After the parade visit the museum where all heroes will receive one free admission for the duration of September.
Michelle Urbanczyk, CEO of Explore & More, states, “As we remember and continue to mourn the victims of 9/11, we recognize many heroes throughout the country. COVID-19 has brought a new set of heroes whether it’s parents, grandparents, neighbors, government officials, teachers, first responders, medical personnel, restaurant workers, grocery workers, military and of course healthcare personnel. We are celebrating you, your strength and our community resilience and are welcoming you to the museum from now until the end of the month, free of charge.”
