On September 26, 2021, Lilly was 8 years old, and she was a passenger in a UTV that was involved in a rollover accident. At the time of the accident, Lilly was in the care of a babysitter. Lilly sustained multiple injuries at the time of the accident which have impeded her life – her femur was broken, five (5) pelvic fractures, a spinal fracture, and in addition she suffered a rare internal injury called vesicovaginal fistula (VVF). Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) was caused by her pelvis rupturing her bladder and the canal below.

Lilly has healed from all her broken bones and fractures but the vesicovaginal fistula remains. On September 1, 2022, Lilly had surgery that was scheduled for less than five (5) hours, that ended up taking 17 hours. This operation failed, and forces Lilly to continue wearing pull-ups for leakage. After this failed surgery, Lilly’s family found themselves looking for additional options, opinions and doctors who would be able to help Lilly return to the active young girl she was before the crash. Lilly misses being able to participate in activities like her favorite which was cheerleading! Lilly’s family has found doctors who are experts in treating VVF. This treatment team is located at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. The care that Lilly needs now requires nearly 400-mile round trip travel, overnight stays, and additionally requires her family to rent a car, as they lack a car that is reliable enough to take this round trip.

Since the accident, Lilly has had nine (9) surgeries and procedures, and she needs at least one more to repair the vesicovaginal fistula (VVF). Lilly must wear pull-ups until her VVF is repaired. The condition causes her to leak urine out of a place where she should not. As she is now nine (9) years old, she must wear a size L/XL. She goes through three (3) packages of pull-ups a week. In addition to VVF, Lilly has had a series of bad urinary trac infections. The expenses have become substantial, and the impact on the family has been severe through the past few years. Due to Lilly’s many medical needs, she has only one parent who has been able to work.
This Go-Fund me is being set up by friends of Lilly and her family who are concerned about the impact that this time has had. Through all the hardships that Lilly and her family have experienced, the additional medical costs, the medical supplies (including the pull-ups) the direct and indirect costs of traveling to the Cleveland Clinic.

The funds obtained through this go-fund me will be used to support the medical expenses not covered by insurance, the purchase of the medical supplies and will assist the family in being able to safely travel with Lilly to her appointments.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
