They say it takes 21 days to make or break a habit and after almost 9 years of yelling it had certainly become my response when directions were not followed the first time, rough housing turned to WWE matches or home cooked meals were met with scrunched noses and noises of disgust. I was a habitual yeller….I was that mom. But, I changed.
One mom’s challenge to herself – no yelling for one full year. Why? And how’d she do?
It’s a balancing act. I talk freely and emotionally with my older girls about our loss. It’s really a struggle for us. But, to be honest, Emma makes it easier for all of us to remember those fun and special times. She helps us think about his life more and his death less. That is a gift.
