It’s been weighing heavily on so many of us for several days now. News of that unthinkable bus crash that killed 15 of the 28 people on board – spread across the continent. On the bus, the Humboldt Broncos. A junior hockey team from Saskatchewan, Canada.
It seems all of Canada and the United States are mourning the 15 people killed when a semi-trailer slammed into the team’s bus.  Fourteen were also injured, some critically, in a collision that left a country, its national sport and the hockey-obsessed town of Humboldt, Saskatchewan reeling.
But as is often the case in times of tragedy, there is much love.
NHL teams have honored those killed and injured. A GoFundMe campaign is already raising more than six million dollars in just days.
And now, hockey players and families are showing their support, too. Folks around the world are placing hockey sticks on their front porch with lights on to honor the lives lost and those left behind. They’re sharing the photos on social media with the hashtags – #humboldtstrong #prayersforhumboldt and #PutYourSticksOut
Marc and Stacey DeGregorio from Niagara Falls have placed a stick outside their home to show love and support for everyone impacted by the tragedy. They are not alone. Many have done the same.

On Sunday night, Niagara Falls was lit up with the Broncos colors to honor the victims.
So many families – including many here in Western New York – know all about putting their kids on a bus to a hockey tournament. Â Its something parents think about. Worry about. It’s heartbreaking.
