When fire broke at at a home on Huxley Drive in Cheektowaga, volunteers from several fire departments hit the road and went to work. The family was home at the time, and thankfully, with some help from neighbors, they all made it out safely.
Pine-Hill volunteer firefighter, Connie Calandra was also able to save a two-day-old kitten by performing CPR and then administering oxygen to the tiny animal. This picture, snapped by Colleen Probst, is just incredible. Connie is holding that tiny kitten in her hands, keeping it warm.
It’s such a heartwarming photo we just had to share.
The fire is still under investigation.
Thank you very much for sharing this story. She always goes out of her way to help others.
Why she is a firefighter is something that is just as amazing. It is a story that you might like to explore.
Connie is our daughter and we are soo proud of her.
