We decided to have a bit of fun and ask folks to share their Buffalo and WNY on ice pictures! It was amazing looking at all of the stunning photos captured from all across Western New York. (Here is a link to see them in a photo gallery)
We were trying to pick just one for a cover photo, and it was a tough task. We asked for some help on Facebook and hundreds took part in the vote. The picture that was chosen is one of those photos that captures your imagination and has you asking, what’s the deal?
Jessica Deho O’Reilly took the stunning photo. She’s not a professional photographer. In fact she’s a wife, a mom, and a dental assistant.
But she is a wife, a mom, and a dental assistant who surely takes amazing pictures!
We asked her about the pic, “Oh wow!!! I’m blown away,” she says about the love she’s received for the photo, ” I grew up here, in Clarence Center, this road is not far from my house now. I’ve tried to capture the beauty of this road. It’s gotten the reputation of being one of the “most haunted” places in WNY, but in my opinion it’s one of few places left untouched. No homes are on this street. I enjoy the peaceful serenity nature provides.”
Yes. Haunted. Legend has it, if you truly want to see all there is to see on Delaware Road, you’ll need to park your car at the entrance of the road and hit the pavement. Once night falls, the road is black with the lack of street lights – unless you happen to catch a glimpse of the old man who haunts the road with his lantern late at night.
It turns out, it’s not the first time she’s taken that same shot.
“Yes, the fall photo is also the same road! It’s Delaware rd, off of Goodrich, north end of town.”
The winter shot was taken early afternoon, the sun was shining beautifully through the trees that day as we can clearly see.
The road calls to Jessica.
“I have never studied photography, let alone thought my photo would be liked by so many. I just truly enjoy taking these shots of nature, in its purest form.”
And we truly enjoy looking at these shots of nature.
Sometimes, it takes a while to figure out our talents, “I’ve started to paint some of the photos I’ve taken as well, after going to a few few paint nights with friends, I realized I’d rather do my own pictures.”
Amazing work, Jessica! Keep clicking and keep sharing!
Way to go Jessica!!!! Congrats from your cousin in Alaska.
