Consider Mercy Flight on Giving Tuesday and every day.

When my daughter, Maria was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital – it was dark out.
By the time they landed, it was pitch black.

But, they made it. Her crew, her amazing crew – made it safely through the darkness to get my sweet girl exactly where she needed to be.

That’s probably why when I saw this picture on Facebook, I stopped and just stared at it. I couldn’t take my eyes off the photo. The pilot seen in the picture is Michael Setaro. He’s wearing night vision goggles – an important tool to enhance the safety of flying through dark skies.

Mike was the pilot who flew the helicopter that picked up my Maria on July 31, 2010. He’s the guy who did that. For Maria. For me. For all of us.

It was a three-man crew – and Flight Nurse, Tom Sampson and Flight Medic, Daniel Parr were also in the aircraft.

How lucky are we that this crew was able to fly – through the dark skies.

How lucky are we all to have an amazing, life-saving organization like Mercy Flight.

Of course, you may never need them.

I hope you don’t. But you never know.

I never thought my family would need them.

We were fortunate to meet our crew a few months ago. After seven years, Maria was ready to thank her heroes.

It was an amazing opportunity that we will never forget. (See story below)

As a mother, it’s hard to thank someone for saving your child’s life. Impossible, really.

So, I use this platform as a way to help give back. Today, I’m here to ask you to consider giving to Mercy Flight – anytime – but particularly on Giving Tuesday. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 is a day to give back to an organization that makes a difference. Mercy Flight saves lives – can you think of a more important way to make a difference?

It was everything we’d hoped for. And more.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
