Senior Wishes gives 90-year old Veteran a stereo system so he can be the resident DJ in his senior complex. Amazing!

Manny, a 90 year old Veteran, was grateful to receive a new tape to tape stereo system right before the holidays as he is the resident DJ in his senior apartment complex.   Senior Wishes met Manny when they presented Bethel Estates with a new game table for its community room.  He was playing cards with friends, and shared that he had a 7,000 song collection on cassette tapes which he custom mixed depending on the occasion.  His stereo recently broke, and he was worried as he was unable to provide music for the apartment’s New Year’s Eve party.  He is now so happy to be able to continue to “bring smiles to others”.

According to Wendy Backman, Senior Wishes Executive Director, “One of the things that’s struck me most about the wish requests is how simple they are, yet how much of a difference they can make in the lives of these seniors. Whether it’s bringing long-separated family members together for a reunion, taking a senior to a museum for the first time, or providing an opportunity for a senior to throw out the first pitch at a Bisons game, granting these wishes help our seniors feel connected, purposeful and appreciated.”

In addition, the non-profit created a Simple Wishes for the Holidays campaign which is delivering 61 presents to seniors, most with little or no family in the area.  Gifts include:  warm blankets, bathrobes, socks, winter clothing, craft supplies, floral arrangements and even a lasagna dinner.

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
