It was the happiest day of their lives. Melissa Wirth and Dan Brimmer sealed their love in marriage on July 29, 2017. Â It was an amazing day. 75 degrees. Low humidity. Â Wonderful weather. Â Wonderful everything. Melissa felt incredibly blessed, “We had a perfect day and spent the best day celebrating our love with our closest friends and family. Everything was literally as perfect as it could have been, and we will cherish those memories forever.”
It was everything they dreamed it would be. Until it wasn’t. At the end of an incredible day, the couple noticed their card box was missing, “We assumed a family member secured it and forgot to tell us, but it was soon discovered that was not the case and that it was gone.”
It was gone. Stolen. So instead of spending their first night together – alone – as husband and wife, Melissa and Dan spent their wedding night with the police, crime scene technicians and detectives.
The couple has asked their wedding guests to look through any pictures they may have taken at the end of the night – particularly looking for a woman cleaning up centerpieces and other items. Melissa tells me the venue in the Southtowns – which they are not naming publicly – has been wonderful and very helpful. Melissa and Dan have asked those who gave a check to stop payment – and they hope to get their gifts back.
For Melissa and Dan, the missing money is a real bummer, but it’s so much more than that, “We are heart broken we cannot read the cards that people wrote to us and cannot even begin to imagine what kind of a person could do something like this on what should have been the happiest day of our lives.”
Melissa, who lost her mom just weeks before her wedding – refuses to cave to any anger or bitterness, “Our wedding day was perfect and everything we dreamed it would be. I felt my mom with me the entire day. We are so blessed to have been able to celebrate with so many of our loved ones, including several family members who traveled a long way to celebrate with us. Thank you to everyone who came and helped to make our day absolutely amazing. The happy memories are what we are going to focus on and remember it as a day of love and celebration, and the memories are something that no one can ever take from us.”
The bride and groom are taking this in stride – knowing they can get through this life challenge – together. Love can conquer all – surely that is the case for this beautiful couple  showing incredible grace during this very unfortunate incident.
