When Kim Fritz’s beloved dog, Chloe – passed away, she wanted to do something in her memory. Â She also has always wanted to write a children’s book – so it seemed the Tonawanda resident had an idea.
‘Running Down a Dream’ is set in Buffalo. Chloe, a 13-year-old Siberian Husky has a dream of running in the Iditarod in Alaska. The cute pup looks online for flights from Buffalo to Alaska and realizes that she’ll have to find a way to raise the money. The very sweet story follows Chloe through her fundraising efforts – where her heart seems to get in the way of raising that money. Turns out, she’s more of a giver than a taker.
This is Chloe running in the Buffalo Marathon!
Fritz tells me she wrote this book to share an important message with kids, “You don’t know what friends you’ll make along any path. If you’re looking out for others, you’ll be in a better place in the end.” Without giving away the ending – I’ll just say, it seems Chloe proves that good deeds can help you accomplish anything.
“Running Down a Dream” is a very sweet book. My girls love this book! They find it hilarious that Chloe the dog goes on a computer! They love the illustrations and how Chloe met different people along her path. From the snowy streets of Buffalo to the even snowier ones of Alaska, this heartwarming little book leaves you feeling pretty darn good. Â Fritz says the story she really wants the children to take away is a life lesson, “I want kids to know they can do anything, including writing a book. They should always follow their dreams.”
You can buy the book on Amazon. Â I highly recommend it.
