Totally Buffalo: When did you know you wanted to be a dentist and how did you get your start?
Dr. Dwyer: I was in high school when I decided I wanted to be a dentist. I had the opportunity to observe a few dentists at their offices and it was clear that dentistry was the career for me. I knew I wanted to be in the healthcare field and being a dentist appealed to me on many levels. I loved the idea of providing direct patient care and managing a dental practice. Operating your own practice and being able have such a positive impact for your patients made dentistry the only thing I wanted to do.
Totally Bufffalo: Why do you enjoy what you do?
Dr. Dwyer: Many things make it enjoyable. The relationships we develop with our patients is most important. I look forward to seeing our patients. I look forward to providing them with high quality dentistry. I know they come to me because they trust me. I like getting to know them and their families. I also enjoy the dentistry that I provide. The surgical and technical nature of the treatments we provide is still fascinating to me. I am always developing my skills to be able to provide my patients the oral care they deserve.
Totally Buffalo: What’s the message you’d like to share with people who have fears about going to the dentist?
Dr. Dwyer: Dentistry has come a long way with its ability to provide treatment to patients in a comfortable environment. Quite often one negative experience for a patient will cause them to avoid proper oral care. It is important that you find a practitioner who can turn that around for you. We encourage patients to come in and TALK to us. It all starts with a consultation visit. We can identify your fears and help alleviate them and that is an important step to better oral care.

Dr. Dwyer: My staff is the best. Our patients are well aware of that. From the moment you enter our office they are working to make your visit the best experience. My staff has been with me from the beginning. My patients know the staff by name and always look forward to seeing them. It says a lot about an office when the staff is consistent and experienced. You will always know who is treating you.

Totally Buffalo: Tell us about your family! What do you do when you aren’t in the office?
Dr. Dwyer: I’ve been happily married to my wife Lisa for 30 years. We have four children. Cassandra, Edward, Alexandra and Trevor. We enjoy being an active family outdoors, our favorite activity to do together is Skiing. When I am not in the office, I enjoy swimming for fitness, and walking my dog “Noelle” (Labrador-Mastiff mix).
