When Colleen Gunther contacted us to see if we could help a North Tonawanda family, we couldn’t say no. This family has been through an awful lot.
This was her message,
“Hello,
I have a friend that has a child with special needs that is in and out of the hospital and has had and will need multiple surgeries. She is unable to work as a result. I know they can both (and her other child) use some help and uplifting. Is there a way to add them to your program?”
The message was to our charity arm of this blog, Totally Buffalo’s Hope for the Holidays. A 501 c3 we started to help families in need all around WNY.
Our mission is to bring hope and help to those in need – particularly around all holidays throughout the year! We will offer gifts, food, supplies, and hope to those who may need to be uplifted.
So we thought, since Easter is right around the corner, we could make it extra special for this North Tonawanda mom and her two children.
Here’s a bit about them.
Crystal Casey has two children. Abby is 13 and Jaxon is 3. Jaxon has special needs and requires quite a bit of time devoted to him. Colleen tells us more,
“Jaxon has chiari malformation, stage 2 chronic kidney disease, grade 3 renal reflux, 3 chromosomal abnormalities, esotropia, apraxia of speech, sensory issues, gross motor delays, a lot of ear nose and throat issues, sleep apnea and a couple things I can’t remember. He’s had tethered cord surgery recently.”
We are planning on making some seriously awesome Easter baskets for the kids and providing gift cards to Crystal – including Easter Brunch!!
If you would like to make a donation toward the gift cards – you may do so here: totallybuffalohopefortheholidays.org/get-involved/
If you would like to purchase one or more of the items on our Amazon Wish List – you may do so here: Jaxon’s Easter Wish List
Having a chronically ill toddler is such a challenge and Crystal is doing an amazing job. We’d like to let this family know they have support – an entire community rallying around them!
Thank you!!!
