Nate Brundage was an amazing young man.
He was smart and kind and funny and so incredibly caring. Nate was one-of-a-kind.
Diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma (brain tumor) at age 16, Nate endured surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. He was tough and brave. I met nate at the beginning of his cancer journey when I worked at WGRZ and did a story on him. I was inspired from the get-go.
Nate died on October 6, 2016.
Nate loved the outdoors, hunting and life! He loved his family, his fellow firefighters and his friends. He loved his dog and he loved his country. Nate was a special person and one thing that brought him joy was the bedroom makeover given to him by the amazing folks at Special Spaces Buffalo. Nate loved that room. It was like the great outdoors was brought right into his home. I was fortunate and blessed to spend some time with Nate in his room just a day before he passed away. I think of that time often.
I think of Nate often.
As part of our new charity, Totally Buffalo’s Hope for the Holidays, we want to do things in memory of those we’ve lost. That is why our next mission will be to raise money to sponsor a bedroom in honor of Nate. We will present Special Spaces with a check for $3,000 for a new bedroom makeover – for July 4th – a fitting holiday to remember Nate because he was a true patriot.
Nate’s family is incredible – and we are so blessed to know and love them. We reached out to our friends to let them know about our idea – and his mom, Angela was thrilled. “You gave me chills. I absolutely would love that. Nate loved his room. And special spaces was completely in his heart!”
If you would like to help us remember Nate through this bedroom for another sick child – we would be incredibly grateful. Just head to totallybuffalohopefortheholidays.org and click the donate link.
Thank you so much! We will keep you posted and also let you know what child we will be helping!
