The Breast Cancer Network of WNY is a local, independent, volunteer driven organization that delivers support and educational programming to breast cancer survivors and co-survivors throughout Western New York.

Survivors like Paula Munro who was shaken to the core with a breast cancer diagnosis, “My world stopped, and the only focus for the next 9 months was testing, putting together my medical team, making decisions, surgery and treatment.” It was all so much to deal with, but Paula stayed laser-focused on her health, “In October 2016, I completed my last radiation treatment, and was sent back out into my world as a cancer survivor.”

It was then – something happened. Something felt different. The focus was no longer on beating the disease. The 44-year-old just couldn’t adjust to life after cancer, “After all the strength, faith, trust, and fight, I all of the sudden felt lost.” A quick google search took her to the Breast Cancer Network of WNY and Paula says that was an incredible blessing, “I am so grateful that I have found them, even though it wasn’t until after my treatment was complete.  The Breast Cancer Network has helped me heal emotionally and has also directed me into the desire to support and help others that are faced with a breast cancer diagnosis.”

All donations made to BCN are used locally. They are hosting a very important fundraiser in July.

The Strike Out Breast Cancer event on July 7th is a family friendly event that includes a two hour pre-game party downtown at Cathedral Park, a short breast cancer awareness walk to Coco-Cola Field, and admission to that evening’s Buffalo Bisons baseball game!

Everything starts with the pre-game party at 3:00 PM which will feature food, entertainment, kids zone, photos, and contests for best t-shirts and best dancers. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Breast cancer patients and survivors are free.

Proceeds from Strike Out Breast Cancer will benefit BCN’s programs and metastatic breast cancer research. Metastatic breast cancer is the Stage IV breast cancer that causes all of the 40,000 + annual breast cancer deaths in the United States.

“Strike Out Breast Cancer Night is not just a fundraiser but also a great way for our organization to become better known to the community,” Rob Jones, Executive Director of BCN said, “We do very important work for local breast cancer patients and survivors and we want more people to know about us and take advantage of our support programming. And we are thrilled to be able to contribute to research that will someday end breast cancer as a life threatening disease.”

Strike Out Breast Cancer tickets are available online at www.bcnwny.org or at the BCN offices at 3297 Walden Ave. in Depew.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
