This is not a Buffalo story – but I know we have an awful lot of animal lovers here – so I thought I would share this story that will likely get you angry and then hopeful!

For Nikki Gines, it all started with a fishing trip. She pulled up and saw six lab puppies running. They were dumped and left for dead. She did what so many would do – she grabbed the puppies and posted a picture on Facebook – with a call to action.  She needed help.

“To all of my friends. I have an emergency. I was on my way to go fishing when out of a culvert came six lab puppies running. It took all I had not to hit them. Me being who I am stopped the truck and got them all as some class act jerk wad dumped them. I can not have them anywhere near my dogs as my Cane Is fixing to drop pups of her own. Please share and help. This is so wrong and I am desparate!!!!!”

By the end of the day – her post was shared – get this – 230-THOUSAND  times! Yes. 230,000 times.  Nikki was floored. She found loving homes for all six puppies left behind. And – she is very grateful as you can tell by her post from today!

“I am finally home after a day that started out as a beautiful day to tragic emergency. I am seriously bawling at the out pour of support and shares from so many. As in over 22k shares as I type. It was a beautiful day to go fishing. We loaded up the truck and boat and off we went. As we were driving down the road out of nowhere an entire litter of scared puppies came running out of a culvert. It took Locking up the truck and boat to get shut down to keep from hitting them. Before the truck was even stopped I bailed out in the highway and started gathering up puppies. I was in tears and very upset. I didn’t have a choice for those that know me. Humans or animals in my book will NEVER be left behind to die. I am both an officer and nurse if that says anything. So there went the fishing trip and back home it was. No questions asked. It was game on for me to save these pups. I have a cane corso that’s fixing to drop a litter of her own pups.  I didn’t know what on Earth to do as I could not have her compromised. And that’s when the fun began. I started snapping pics and posting to FB asking all of my friends to share. Before I knew it this went viral. I loaded up all the pups, went and picked up my dear friend Nancy Shipley Brown daughter Alli Nicole and off we went to deliver puppies. Between Van Buren county, Cleburne county, and Faulkner county all pups were delivered to good homes. My phone was BLOWING up the entire time. I was literally driving and running the phone. Allie was running g my phone and driving. It was insanity. We laughed and cried and high fived the entire way. When this lady is upset and feels so passionate about something, I can move mountains as it was showed tonight. I have had people literally from all over the entire country messaging me. All of my friends have been calling going NIKKI MY PHONE WILL NOT STOP BLOWING UP. When I finally just set down to check my FB I seen over a thousand friends requests comments galore and the shares are still coming in. PS I’m still bawling. So here it is folks!!! To all of the AMAZING people out there today that rescued a pup I can’t thank you enough. To the dirt bag who dumped them puppies I cleaned up your mess with pleasure. You should be ashamed of yourself. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.”

There’s so much good in this world – we have to celebrate it!!!  People like Nikki and all those who helped matter so much more than the jerk who dumped those helpless puppies.

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
