It’s an ongoing effort. So many people are stepping up to do what they can to help everyone get through this crisis. People – feeling helpless – but not hopeless – doing their part. More than their part.
Here is just one example.
Marinette Kozlow has a business called Inspired Buffalo. She makes beautiful Buffalo-inspired clothing and merchandise and has quite a following.
Well – like most small business, Inspired Buffalo was greatly impacted during this terrible pandemic.
So – here’s what happened. Marinette says business was dying. With just a few orders here and there – she found herself with loads of time on her hands… so she did what she loves, she kept working. Her friend, Renee, a respiratory therapist at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, asked her if she could make surgical caps instead of masks.
Of course she could.
The problem was – she was out of fabric. So, she made a post and guess what happened next.
“An avalanche of cotton material arrived at my shop door!” Yep, Marinette told me next she posted that she needed sewers and guess what?
“Immediately people contacted me to pick up the kits. 200 left my shop by 5 pm!”
I know what you’re thinking. Of course this is how it worked! This is Western New York!
“What an amazing community we have here in WNY! Even those who can’t sew help by cutting fabric and spreading the word!”
Yeah, so far – they’ve made and dropped of 800 of those 1,000 caps!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT!!? One woman with a goal and bam – 800 caps made and delivered. Just about every hospital in WNY has gotten some.
“This was something I dove into because as someone who felt helpless watching and listening to the darkness of Covid-19, I needed a way to feel like I was helping. It was a way for me to cope. I encourage others to get behind something—join in efforts to help others in some way—use their strengths. They will feel much better for it in the end.”
Follow along on the INSPIRED BUFFALO FACEBOOK PAGE and let them know if you would like to help! And then – when all of this is over – shop with this amazing business – and help them the way they’ve helped so many in our community!!!
