A month after heading to New York City for major surgery, Jim Kelly is set to come home to continue his recovery.

Kelly was diagnosed with oral squamous-cell carcinoma in May 2013. He had been cancer-free since September 2014. A biopsy in February revealed the cancer has returned. Kelly issued a statement on March 1st, announcing the news.

Kelly went under the knife one month ago. Doctors removed the cancer, and reconstructed much of Kelly’s upper jaw, which he revealed has caused him massive amounts of pain every day. Doctors called the surgery a success.

Kelly hopes that his quality of life will greatly improve followed the reconstruction surgery.

The Kelly’s have been documenting their journey – sharing photos and asking for continued prayers. Showing how Jim communicated with a white board, support from his family,

And the day he left the hospital.

In his most recent post on Instagram on Monday, Jim shared this post,

“On final day of being in the big apple, Jill, Erin and Parker took me on a little walk around Central Park. It was awesome just to see trees again and to breathe fresh air. GOD willing we will be heading back home tomorrow. Can’t wait. Till then, don’t stop the prayers. THANK YOU ALL.”

One thing is certain, Jim Kelly has an entire community praying for his recovery. #12.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
