Talk about ingenuity and kindness!

A senior at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Kenmore has started a unique business to help shelter dogs at Niagara County SPCA get adopted. It’s called Bubba’s Bow Ties and the goal is for the community to see shelter dogs in their cages in a different light. Seventeen-year-old Kylie Cocca hand makes colorful bow ties for the homeless dogs to wear on their collars to give them some dignity and self-esteem.

“I started the Bubba’s Bow Ties business to help dogs who are in need be adopted and to help make them more stylish. I love dogs and love to visit shelters with this! I plan to hopefully show off the bow ties to make the wonderful and adoptable dogs get homes,” said Cocca.

Cocca named the business after her bulldog who she lovingly nicknamed, Bubba. She recently
made a variety of bow ties for the shelter dogs of Niagara County SPCA, each one unique for boys and girls. She hopes that when people pass by the dogs in the kennels they will take a second look and see how truly amazing each animal is. She will also be selling the bow ties at the SPCA to help raise funds for the shelter.

“We are so grateful to Kylie for coming up with this sweet and wonderful idea! The smiles on the shelter dog’s faces were priceless when we put on their bow ties and kind acts like this really do make a difference in finding them their forever homes,” said Kimberly LaRussa, Director of Community Engagement at Niagara County SPCA.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
