Gavin Burns has been at Oishei Children’s Hospital for nearly two weeks now. He’s had six major surgeries. Today, some positive news from his family. His Aunt, Margo Tallarico has an update, “Gavin is doing well & healing. He has a long journey ahead of him. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.”
Gavin was seriously injured in a lawn mower accident at his home on June 1st. He was flown by Mercy Flight to the hospital for emergency surgery and has remained there ever since.
There has been an outpouring of love and support from the community. Gavin has received hundreds of get well cards from family, friends and strangers.
Today, family members began to prepare the home for Gavin, who is expected to be released from the hospital next week. Margo says it will be a long journey, but one surrounded with supporters, “His journey to get home has FINALLY begun,” Margo says feeling very blessed, “I’m realizing the compassion and love that has come from people to help.”
Margo’s sister, Jackie – Gavin’s mother – sent her this photo of a group of men standing on the ramp they just installed for the little boy. The photo came with the caption, “I am flooded with tears of joy!” Jackie wasn’t alone. It was an emotional sight for many.
Margo tells me she is overwhelmed by the love and has a message for those men, “Thank you to each and every one of these men for taking time out of their lives to make my nephew’s life less stressful. Thank you for installing this ramp. Thank you for caring and loving my family. Thank you for forever being a part of my family. Thank you to everyone for your continued love & support”Â
