Heartbroken Couple Needs Help Paying For Their Dog, Winnie’s Surgery After She Was Hit By A Car

A local couple is looking for help for their best friend so they can pay for veterinary care – including major surgery.

There’s no doubt about it, vet bills are expensive – especially when it is an emergency situation. This is something that can happen to any one of us at any time. A terrible accident left a beautiful dog severely injured and her owners are just heartbroken and doing whatever they can to come up with the money to save their sweet, sweet Winnie.

Allie Henderson and Dominic Romanini say their dog, Winnie needs surgery that they simply can’t afford.

Winnie was hit by a car on Friday night and has been hospitalized ever since.

The couple have started a Gofundme where they described Winnie’s needs.

“Her entire right hind leg is stapled and she has scrapes and road rash all over her belly. She is having a very hard time walking because of the open wounds. She also has severely bruised lungs and possibly a small hole in her lungs. She had to have xrays and air removed from her chest cavity last night. She now has an oxygen tube inserted into her nose. There is still a possibility that she’ll need a tube inserted into her lungs. We are doing everything we possibly can to make her comfortable and get her the best care. We’re just asking for a little help. The hospital bills alone are crippling us and she still has a long road to recovery. Anyone who has ever met Winnie knows that she is the most lovable pup. Every little bit helps (even just a share). We thank each and every one of you for your kind words at this difficult time.”

Winnie’s owner tells me that she is one special pup, “She’s a brindle pit mix but she’s the sweetest most loving girl in the world. She loves cuddles and running around outside. She’s a goofball and she loves to give kisses.”

The latest update on Winnie is heartbreaking.

“My beautiful baby has a fracture on her spine and is losing function in her back legs. She needs surgery. Please help us bring her home. You have no idea how much this is killing us.”

Now, they’re hoping the good neighbors of WNY and beyond will pitch in – even just a tiny bit – to make a difference.
