Meet Matthew Mansour!

The 19-year-old is the newest clerk at Di Camillo Bakery’s Williamsville location! The shop shared his picture on Facebook and the internet basically exploded, showing a great deal of love and support for Matthew and the business!

We talked to Matthew’s mom, Kristin, about her son and she was happy to share more.

The iconic bakery is a family affair.

Di Camillo Bakery was founded by Tomaso and Addolorata Di Camillo back in 1920! The couple, with help from their eleven children, worked from basement ovens in their Niagara Falls store, baking bread and then delivering it to neighbors in horse-drawn wagons.

Times have changed, but the Di Camillo family is still going strong. Now, second, third, fourth and even fifth generation members of the Di Camillo family continue their baking tradition. Nearly 100 years later, they are still serving their customers, minus the horse-drawn wagons!

Matthew is the great-great-grandson of founders, Tomaso and Addolarata!  He’s now a part of the family business and Kristin says her son loves it, “Yes, it means a lot to him and customers have been wonderful.”

Matthew, who has autism, is the shop’s newest clerk and he’s doing great, “Matthew has overcome significant challenges, and part of his development into a charming, polite, and amazing young man, has been the support of his immediate and extended family,” Kristin said, “He touches and changes lives in ways we never could have imagined.”

Well, we certainly don’t doubt that. It all comes back to the support of family- that big Di Camillo family sure, but also the community; the customers, who are like family in many ways.

Matthew will work with his mother on Thursday nights once his dance classes at Danceability end in a few weeks.

So, it’s not like we need a reason to go to Di Camillo’s Bakery – but, if we did, here’s a good one. Stop by and say hi to Matthew, he will love to serve you your favorite donut!

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
