Local photographer’s stunning photos: “I so often would see what others don’t”

John Witt has loved photography for as long as he can remember. It’s just one of those things… you just know. So, even as a child, he tinkered with cameras – and film. Oh, that old film.

Eventually, John came around to the idea of digital cameras – and what he’s come up with are some pretty amazing photographs.

One of John’s most well-known photos is a beautiful pre-sunrise shot of The Grand Island bridges. You can see it on the Town of Grand Island Website.

John’s love of water means plenty of stunning shots around the area waterways – which works out well because we all love to look at the water. It’s so calming. He says he’s lucky to be doing what he is doing, “I realized that I so often would see what others don’t in a potential image. That is where I get my inspiration – to share life’s beauty as I see it.”

We see what he means. The shots are stunning.

And, because John’s a nice guy – I asked him to share one important tip that will help all of us amateur photographers. He said this, “I like to tell people, when shooting sunrise or sunset photos – don’t forget to look the other way.”  Here’s what he means. One shot of the actual sunrise or sunset – and the other simply turned around to find a glorious skyline. Great advice!!!

John works with his partners, Tom Kerr and Moeen Abu-Sitta and you can find their artwork on their website.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
