Good news update: This community is amazing!!!! I received this message from the store owner on Saturday evening, “Mary Thank you for your promotion of the shop. We had over 3 times the sales we normally get on a Saturday! We had people come from Hamburg, Orchard Park, Cheektowaga, Gowanda, South Dayton, Forestville, etc. Several of them mentioned this article and facebook posts.”
It is an adorable shop. Jesse’s Home and Gifts promises you will experience the unique. From clothing and blankets, to books and jewelry, to furniture and shoes. It seems Jesse’s has it all.
Except maybe a healthy customer base.
   
 
     
Jennifer Kaney DeMaria shops there when she can, and says the shop is fabulous, “We purchased a great dresser and desk for my daughters room. She loves it and they were pieces that were redone. The store has clothes, candles, toys, books, home decor, etc… something for everyone!!”
We agree, the cute boutique does seem to have something for everyone – everyone who comes in, anyway. Which seems to be the problem. Maybe there just aren’t enough shoppers in Gowanda. The small town has a population of just 2,600 people, after all.
They’ve got all five star reviews and have a huge selection of beautiful items, but Jesse’s can’t live on that alone. They need customers. How do I know? They posted it on their Facebook page.

“So here it is. We aren’t going to lie. Sales are so poor this year that the future of this shop is not looking good. As much as we want to believe our little town can support a shop like this, the numbers don’t lie. Unless we see a significant increase in sales in the next couple months, we may have no choice but to make a very sad decision. We are super grateful for all our loyal customers, you guys are great! There just aren’t enough of you. So pass the word. We will hold out hope a bit longer! Thanks!”
    
    
So, maybe we can all take a trip to Gowanda and help these nice folks stay in business. Easter is coming up, then graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, weddings, showers… birthdays. I’m sure we’ll all find what we need at Jesse’s. Let’s go and experience the unique.
