Today, we’d like to shine a spotlight on a wonderful organization with a simple – but amazing – mission: Bring joy to sick children.
That’s literally their mission – so sign us up to help in any way we can!
Brave Little Fighters Foundation  offers joyful and carefree outings for children with serious illnesses (ages 2-18) and their families year round to ease uncertainty along their difficult medical journey.
The outings are completely free of charge to children with serious or terminal illness and their immediate families. “It is important for those who endure so much to have something special to look forward to doing together,” says founder, Elizabeth Agnello, “This eases their uncertainty and pain and brings our community together.”
The outings – to places like yoga and cooking classes, Bills, Sabres, Bandits and Bisons games and Darien Lake – give the children a break from their stressful medical journey, which they bravely endure. Â The children are coping with cancer, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and other serious illnesses. The Foundation has experienced tremendous growth and now serves 75 families residing in the WNY region. 75 families – amazing!!!
Agnello says it is heartwarming to see the children enjoying life and forgetting about their illness – if only for a short while. “It means everything! Bringing our Brave Little Fighters joy is exactly what the outings are about and our vision is to allow as many children with serious illness as possible to enjoy.”
There is more fun to come, “The kindness we have seen in our first months from the community has been astounding! Community involvement is always welcomed in the form
of volunteers for our upcoming outings, including at the Great Pumpkin Farm and at our Christmas party. They can also help by just talking about Brave Little Fighters to get the word out so that we can welcome more families!”
The joy an outing like this can bring to a sick child is truly immeasurable. Fun times with their family, other children, the community – can help carry these little fighters and their parents, helping them get through incredibly tough times. Through treatments and pain that can be overwhelming.
