We are pretty excited. Because we love Batman, sure – who doesn’t!?  But, really because we love Buffalonians who give back to the community – and our own local batman is a true superhero when it comes to helping folks – especially kids – in Western New York!

So, here’s the scoop!

Buffalo’s Best Batman is coming to the Totally Buffalo Festival at Buffalo Riverworks on May 26 in a rare special guest appearance from 12 to 5 p.m.!  Since winning the title of “Buffalo’s Best Batman” in 2014, martial artist Will Lorenz has been a prominent figure in the community.  Lorenz has brought smiles to thousands of Western New Yorkers and helped raise thousands of dollars for local organizations.  Don’t miss your chance to meet Buffalo’s Best Batman on May 26!

We asked Will how he started this super project “I began performing as Batman at my karate school back in 2011, entertaining the students with superhero-themed martial arts demos.  In 2014, I won the title of “Buffalo’s Best Batman” from the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library.  Suddenly, various organizations and events wanted me to appear and raise money for charity, and the rest is history!”
Will says this is all about making a difference – one day at a time, “I do it because I understand the power that larger than life characters can have in inspiring us on a day-to-day basis, and the importance of entertainment in today’s increasingly depressing world.  Specifically with Batman- he is a normal person who had a tragedy happen in his life at a very young age.  Rather than let that tragedy ruin his life, he used it as motivation to help others.  I try to help people day to day as an attorney, but it is nice to visit kids and adults as a super hero in my spare time as well!”
Will is pretty well known around town!
 – He was the guest of honor at Buffalo Comic Con in September 2016 for Worldwide Batman Day.
 – September 26, 2015 named in his honor in the City of Buffalo via Proclamation by Mayor Brown for his charity efforts.
– He was the Writer, Director, and Star of the First Buffalo Bisons Superhero Night in 2015 for charity.
 – Co-Founder of the original WNY Superhero Alliance in 2015, a network for charity performers to connect with local organizations.
And get this – Buffalo’s Best Batman, a fifth degree black belt, will be performing a demo (fighting “Superman” no less!) at the WKF World Martial Arts Convention in Athens, Greece on May 5.

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
