“Good afternoon,
This is the Town of Hamburg Office of Emergency Services with a Code Red Emergency Notification.
A fast moving weather event moved through the Hamburg area approximately 20 minutes ago.
That fast moving cell produced strong straight line winds causing widespread damage to property and power infrastructure.
Currently we have power out across a wide portion of the Town, as well as downed trees many reports of property damage.
All Town of Hamburg resources including police, fire, EMS, highway crews, utilities, and emergency management are busy assessing the damage. Please take an opportunity to check on your neighbors, particularly the elderly, and contact us at 911 to report any life-threatening injuries, gas leaks, or other major concerns.
Stay away from downed lines and call your utility company to report any newly fallen lines. You may experience power outages in this time; that is expected. Please, if you are safe in your house, please stay in your residence. If you have down power lines or trees, please stay away from them.
The National Wether Service is meeting with Town of Hamburg ESU officials as well as Erie County ESU Officials to assess the intensity of the storm- to determine if it was a Tornado or just strong straight line winds.
We will update you as soon as we have more information.”
