Strong Women: May we know them, May we raise them, May we be them.

“Strong Women: May we know them, May we raise them, May we be them.”
As we begin the new year, we as women are trying to balance so many things in our life. Many of us may struggle with loving ourselves and putting ourselves first….maybe we don’t like our body. Maybe we aren’t happy with the friendships we have in our life. Maybe we are taking care of our elderly parents. Maybe we just lost a job or we are trying to find our purpose. Maybe we’ve lost a child maybe , a parent, a sibling……or maybe we are single and trying to navigate through the dating process in 2018. Through all of that, we must try to remind ourselves daily that we are capable of achieving great things. We can handle whatever life throws at us, and we have to power to create the lives we want. We are strong women.
What does it mean to be a strong woman?
To me,  it means always listening to that inner voice , being okay with who you are and embracing every part of it, good + bad.

Where do we find strength?
I find strength in practicing things that I know will help empower me! Also, I feel strong when I’m helping others to find their strength! Spending time at my stores, Her Story + Her Sanctuary, is where I find strength, through listening to other women share their stories. It’s a great comfort to know that we are not alone on our journeys.

What practices do you have in place to cultivate that strength inside of ourselves?
One of my favorite ways is through the practice of gratitude. I have a gratitude jar that sits on my counter and everyday I drop a penny or a note to myself and remind myself what I’m grateful for! I also keep a gratitude journal and every night before I go to bed I write down three things that I’m grateful for. It feels so good to end my day knowing that even the most simplest things can have so much meaning and make you feel good . I also find strength in rituals; having a morning and nighttime routine is a great way to help keep me grounded and committed to my well being! I love to have my morning lemon and hot water while I sit and try to practice my meditation ( it’s still a work in progress!!) I set my intentions for the day which I find really helps to keep you focused for the day ahead. At night time, I plug in my diffuser, add my lavender about an hour before I go to bed. I love to drink my tart cherry juice( which helps promote sleep, by the way ) and then I write in my gratitude journal trying to end my day with happy thoughts.
Whatever way you answered these questions, we can’t lose sight of the most important thing: loving yourself and taking care of you !! It is the year of Self-Love: grab yourself a rose quartz, brew yourself a cup of tea, and retreat to your sanctuary space, wherever that may be, and LOVE YOURSELF FIRST.
