I’ve wanted to see Wicked for as long as I can remember, but haven’t gotten around to it. Now, I’m kicking myself for missing out for so long.
I took my daughter, Alexa to see the show at Shea’s Performing Arts Center on Thursday night and we were both blown away!
If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s the story of The Wicked Witch of the West long before Dorothy arrives. It’s all well before the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion.
It’s the funny, sweet, and amazing story of a young woman, born with emerald-green skin, making her way through life. She is smart, feisty, hilarious and also – very misunderstood. The show tells the story of this young girl growing up, meeting a bubbly and ditsy blonde named Glinda.
The unlikely pair become best friends – but everything changes when the folks of Emerald City begin to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked”.
We found the show very funny, which we didn’t expect. The songs are magical, the cast is sooooo good, their voices – fabulous. We still can’t get over the talent!
It is a show that tells a different story, one that seems to show you that everything you thought you knew about The Wizard of Oz – may not be quite right.
The show runs through June 4th and tickets are still available.
