Let’s face it – babies are ADORABLE! Whether it’s your first, or if you’re a “veteran mom” and have done it before – enjoying the beauty of a newborn baby is something special. The smells, the sounds, and the sights – the beautiful sights of your baby girl or baby boy, are all so unique. When it comes to capturing those precious moments, you want to choose the right photographer because life really does go by fast and that little one will be crawling, walking, and running before you know it! Capturing the best photos while your little one is just a few days old is something you will treasure for years to come.
Katie LaDota has been a professional photographer for just about seven years. She’s a mother of two daughters and got into photography when her oldest was little. “(She) was my inspiration. When she was born, I was completely in love and just wanted to capture everything. I saw how quickly she grew and changed and I just wanted to document it all.” Katie has had quite a considerable amount of education, training and experience with baby safety and calming techniques. WAIT! Did you say a photographer that can calm down the crying and screaming kiddo for a photo???? Yes, it’s true. “My patience and calming nature seem to help settle the baby and allow for safe and beautiful poses. New parents can be confident that their baby’s safety is my number one concern when I am working with their most precious gift.”
It’s not just a job to Katie taking photos of newborns is also very fulfilling. “Those new squishy little packages are just asking for love and snuggles! I just melt every time I see one. I am a sucker for all those little parts too! The lips, nose, fingers, toes…all of it!”
So where does all the magic happen? Katie has set up a comfortable studio right in her home. There she has all the options for various props and set-ups. “From buckets, wood boxes, carved drift wood, antique bowls, wire baskets, and decorative drawers, along with a wide range of neutral and color blankets and fluff to dress up every shot. Recently, I have been growing my collection of 6-12 month outfits for the “watch me grow club” photo shoots.” Outdoor sessions around Western New York are also a great option for parents. “I love exploring our wonderful city! The “backdrops” and scenery have endless possibilities!”
Even though newborn photography is one of Katie’s favorites, she’s not limited to just photos of tiny babies. “I think it is important to capture all the stages of your family. I think every age should be photographed and celebrated! That being said, I offer family sessions, extended family sessions, couples, maternity, kids, tweens (let’s not forget them), and high school seniors. I enjoy working with all ages and creating the magical memories for your family to enjoy for years to come.”
These days, many photographers take pictures and distribute them on a CD for the family. However, Katie will be the first to point out that the photos really belong on display at your home. I believe your walls are the windows to your heart. They represent what you love and are passionate about. So, the obvious choice is to display custom art of your family! When you display their image, it is a way of subtly showing your love and pride for your children! Every day when they walk by those images they feel how they are adored by their family!” She offers a wide array of products for all types and budgets, the favorites among clients are the leather-bound albums and the custom wood prints!

I am married to an amazing man and optometrist! We also have two kitty cats. I am totally hands on with my kiddos and get involved with as much as I can. I love the beach, going for hikes, interior design and SHOPPING!”
