After 70 years – Louie’s Hot Dogs will be closing its doors!

The owners posted this heartfelt message on Facebook:

“It is with a heavy heart yet an immense sense of joy and accomplishment that I am announcing my ( and my sister Debbie’s ) retirement from our family business .
Both of us working in our family business for over
50 years apiece … we felt it was a good time to say goodbye and retire .
I reopened for our 70th year earlier this spring and had fully intended on making it through another wonderful season .
The difficulty in staffing the store this spring is proving to be too much for Debbie and I .
And after working an incredibly busy lunch hour with just the 2 of us behind the counter ( because our other staff members just decided not to show up ).. it was clear to both of us completing this season was going to be a monumental task .
A task at our age we felt would be too difficult for us .
I am retiring the Louie’s Footlong brand name and will look for a tenant to lease the location to immediately.
Again , myself , my sister Debbie , and our entire family would like to thank each and every one of our enormous customer base … we will miss you SO MUCH !!! Hopefully you’ll miss us , our food , and our customer service as well .
It has been our pleasure serving you for the past
7 decades .
I’m looking forward to the next chapter in our lives … we plan on traveling , sleeping in , staying up late and watching our favorite movies .. and walking the beaches of Florida and the world .
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts !!
Please don’t be sad it’s over .. just be glad that it happened !!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
