So, it’s been a month since we launched Totally Buffalo. I mean- that flew by, no? It’s like a blur – but, I guess that happens in life. You focus on something for so long – think about it, wonder if you can do it, think some more – start to plan it, think, plan, doubt yourself, get started, work, work, work, doubt – and so on. You get it. That is how it’s been for me since I left my job at Channel Two. I knew I wanted to do something like this, but, of course it wasn’t a priority. I had much sweeter priorities. And still do.
In fact, I’m finding quite a good balance between my work and my family. I’ve got a groove that is working for me. For now, anyway!
Back to January 17th. I was happy with everything I’d done so it was time to just do it. So I did. And it was great. More than I could have asked for. I still doubt myself every single day.
Why do we do that? It’s an unnecessary waste of time!!
Anyway, back to the launch – it was great. Sure, there are some people who haven’t said a word about my project – just a few that I would have loved to hear from. Just saying – good for you. Or it sucks. Or why not try this or that. Or good luck. But, nothing. Radio silence. So, that’s kind of a bummer – I’m not going to lie. But, the support overshadows that – by leaps and bounds!!!! Like, way.
It’s nice to see the community – or some of it – appreciating good news. I mean, there’s so much bad news – so much negativity (Have you noticed???)
Let’s agree – the good is so much better. And you can find it all over in Buffalo and WNY. It’s really quite remarkable. I’m not sure that is the case in other cities around the country.
I’m excited about my little blog. But, like I’ve said and said and said – no invention here. Do you have any idea how many ‘Buffalo Blogs’ there are? HUNDREDS!! So many – that there is a ‘Buffalo Bloggers Network’. I’ve been reading many of them – they’re all great. They all have two things in common – BUFFALO and a love for writing! I love that! We all have a voice – that’s what makes blogging amazing. We can say what we want – in a format that WE choose. I think that is what I like the most about what I do.
Sometimes I’ll bounce things off my husband – because he is SO smart – and he’ll give me his advice always – but follow up by saying, “But, it’s your deal, babe. You should do whatever you want.” And I usually do.
I love hearing from readers, users – whatever you call the folks who jump on and check things out. Many are folks who used to watch me on television, which is incredibly sweet. Many are folks I’ve done stories on or with – or about. Many are long-time friends or family friends or friends of friends. Some I don’t know. Yet, anyway.
So – one month in and I’d like to take a moment to say thanks. Thank you to everyone who has ordered a shirt or hat. Thank you. Thank you to everyone who has sent me story ideas, shared our stories, liked our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Thanks! Truly.
Don’t forget about our Totally Buffalo Festival coming up in just a few months. May 27th at Buffalo Riverworks. We are so excited!
