Times are tough for many Western New Yorkers and organizations like FeedMore WNY have seen that first hand. In 2020, FeedMore WNY distributed enough food through all of its feeding programs to provide nearly 16 million meals to our neighbors in need. This is an increase of nearly 4 million meals compared to 2019.

These folks are in every community, every neighborhood. They are those who lost their job and the working poor. FeedMore assisted 173,100 individuals in 2020 including 70,971 babies and children, 78,161 adults and 23,968 seniors. A total of 54,152 households were served through their food bank distribution network.

Of course, they can’t do it alone – it takes a community to make a difference.

The Totally Buffalo Store wants to help, that’s why they’re hosting a food drive, in partnership with FeedMore WNY.

The store has placed a food barrel inside their store and have offered an incentive for those donating!  For each non-perishable food item you donate, you have a chance to win an awesome basket filled with merchandise from the store – valued at $250!!! (Including an amazing buffalo pillow, a soap bouquet, travel mug, wine glasses, sponge candy and more PLUS a customized facial provided by Nickel City Skin Spa and Boutique!!!

The barrel is filling up – but wouldn’t an overflow be amazing! We know the need is great all around our region.

FeedMore WNY partners with 374 hunger-relief agencies and programs in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie and Niagara counties. This includes the food pantries, soup kitchen, shelters and other agencies in the member network. It also includes our partner home-delivered meal sites in Erie and Niagara counties and congregate dining sites in Erie County.

“Hunger continues to be a pervasive problem in Western New York, and the pandemic has only increased the need for food assistance in our community. In 2020, FeedMore WNY assisted a total of 180,880 individuals throughout our four-county service area through all of our feeding programs – a 36 percent increase compared to 2019. At FeedMore WNY, we are committed to doing everything in our power to help ensure no one has to go without nutritious food, but we need continued community support to fulfill our mission,” Catherine Shick, chief communications officer for FeedMore WNY, said. “We appreciate the support of Totally Buffalo for holding this food drive, and we encourage everyone to stop by with a donation to help nourish our neighbors in need.”

The Food Drive runs through Saturday, May 8th at 7pm. You can bring your food donation to the Totally Buffalo Store, 3328 Sheridan Drive, Amherst.

The winner of the awesome basket will be drawn on Mother’s Day morning!!

The store will also be hosting a Mother’s Day Artisan Marketplace on Friday May 7th from 3-7 and Saturday May 8th from 10-2! They’ll have artisans inside and outside – with products new to the store! About Me

Welcome to Totally Buffalo! A local lifestyle website.

My name is Mary Friona-Celani and I am the creator of this site! I’m a wife, a mom, a grandma, a Buffalo booster, an entrepreneur and a small business owner. I’m so glad you stopped by.  After 20 years in the buffalo media, I went out on my own to tell stories about the people, places, events and all-around fabulousness of this wonderful place we call home. Buffalo is different and so is this site. We are here to share stories, encourage kindness, and help make this a better place to live.

We’ll help those in need when we can through our charity arm, Totally Buffalo Cares.

We help local small businesses, artisans and vendors though our events and our Totally Buffalo Stores.

We’ll do all of this with a little help from friends in our community.
