Jacob Madonia was a husband and father. He was also well known for the way he loved and cared for sick children. Â As a nurse, he helped many children dealing with cancer – even as he was fighting his own battle with the disease.
Lindsay Ricks knows all too well. Jake cared for her daughter, Nya as she battled cancer. Lindsay told me she was so sad about his passing and that he was amazing. She also posted on Facebook, “Please consider donating……Jake was one of the best nurses that took care of Nya while she was sick……he had been fighting his own battle while taking care of pediatric cancer patients…….he knew all too well what the children were going through and it showed in his work!!! I will cherish our relationship and fond memories that we made!! He we be deeply missed.”
We all know it takes a special person to work with children – and an even more special person to work with sick children. Jake was known for his caring ways and will be missed by many.
A Gofundme has been set up to help Jake’s wife and young daughter. Here is the posting,
“Our fellow Mountie, Class of 2005, Lorrina (Kostuk) Madonia, has lost her husband on April 17, 2018 to a courageous battle for 10 years against cancer (synovial sarcoma). He never let cancer define him and fought a tough battle. You can see by his blog below that he fought with so much tenacity and strength. I pray for Lorrina and her family. I wanted to set up this go fund me account to support funeral expenses, medical bills, their daughter’s college fund and any other costs necessary. Lorrina has dedicated her life to taking care of her husband and daughter, she deserves the community to wrap their arms around her and lift her up.”
Please help this mom and little girl if you can. Here is a link to the fundraising page.
