We told you a few weeks ago – about the local family who came up with the idea to build little wheelchairs out of Bumbo seats. Since then, they’ve been making the rounds on local television. In Buffalo and in Rochester. And now, the Today show picked it up
Bella Shorr was born with Spina Bifida and couldn’t get around much. Bella’s aunt and uncle, Rebecca Orr and Marty Parzynski, found instructions to build a wheelchair from a Bumbo seat and stroller wheels. They asked her parents, Jeffrey and Sonya if they could try to make one for Bella.
Bella loved it. Her parents said she was happier, thrilled to no longer be stuck in one place. The chair was a big hit with the little girl.
Then, word got out – so many children around the country needed chairs. The family started making them and shipping them, at no cost, only shipping charges.
Thursday morning, a video was posted by the Today Show. It is heartwarming and inspirational. Just like sweet little Bella.
