I know. I’m not surprised either. Of course she reached her goal.
Actually, she surpassed it.
Doubled it.
Of course she did. This is Buffalo. Totally amazing, totally fabulous, totally giving, Buffalo. And Alden. And Grand Island. And Orchard Park.
You get what I’m saying.
Alannah collected the goods because that was what she wanted for her 8th birthday. She wanted to give back. (You can read our original story here)
Alannah came into this world much earlier than she was supposed to. She spent nearly 3 months in the NICU at Women & Children’s Hospital. Her mother read to her daily. And put a soft blanket over her sweet tiny baby.
So, you can call this a story about coming full-circle.
They dropped the books and blankets off at Women & Children’s last week.
I started out her story by sharing a letter that she’d written to the community; so that’s how I’m ending her story, too. Alannah wrote a thank you letter to the community for helping her with her Blankets and Books for the Babies project.
To my Alden and WNY communities,
I want to thank you for helping me with my Blankets and Books for the Babies Birthday project. With all of your help I was able to break my goal of 70 blankets and 70 books. On Monday, June 19, 2017 I was able to deliver 165 Blanket and Book bundles to the NICU and 25 blankets and 25 books to the Child Life Department for sick babies in other parts of the hospital. Some of the donations came from as far west as Washington State, and as south as Georgia. I am so thankful for all of you helping me reach and beat my goal and for helping me help all the babies that are just as sick as I was. All of your support means the world to me! And I can not wait to do this again next year!!!
Love ,
Alannah Jane Pionessa
And the Rust- Pionessa family
What a gift. For those sweet babies in the NICU. And for sweet Alannah who managed to remind all of us that giving truly is much better than receiving.
