Get ready! The Sunflowers of Sanborn will officially open on Saturday, August 11th. The gates will be open from 8 a.m. to dusk everyday!
Oh my goodness.
The beauty. The flowers. The photo-ops.
We loved sharing the story of the beautiful sunflower field in Sanborn. The gorgeous field became a destination for many folks who wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
The flowers were stunning. Folks flocked to the fields and took pic after pic.
We even shared a story about a proposal that happened right there in the midst of all that yellow.
And now, they’re at it again! Chad and Louise Brachmann from Danielewicz Farm are prepping the field, ready to plant the seeds and await the special bloom. But this year there will be even more to see. The Brachmanns tell me they’ve expanded the field and planting even more sunflowers! They are putting in a parking area to help keep folks out of the road!
They are also going to do a lemonade stand for Hospice.
How fabulous is that!?
If you’re wondering just how and why the field came to be, I asked the farmers – Chad and Louise Brachmann that very question, “It started out as just something colorful instead of a bare field with weeds growing in it, so my wife Louise decided she wanted to plant sunflowers so we did.”
That’s it. Apparently, it’s that simple. They love how happy they made so many people.
The field is on the corner of Baer Road and Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn. Last year they had 150,000 sunflowers – but from the tiny tease the farmers gave me – I’d say we can expect many more this year!
