Colleen Dickerson loves Buffalo. There’s no denying it. There are signs to prove it.
Colleen owns Buffalo Collective.
What is Buffalo Collective? It is a studio that hosts DIY (do it yourself) wood sign and apparel painting parties in WNY. They help YOU create unique, rustic, super cool wood decor and apparel – from scratch! You can work in their studio, your home, or a variety of breweries and craft rooms.
I know. So cool.
More than that – this is a true story of Buffalove.
Colleen is a Buffalo native, born and raised in the close-knit South Buffalo community – a community she says she embraced from a young age, “As an active participant in the community from a young age, I grew to love my hometown. I met, and subsequently married my husband (also a Buffalo native) right out of college, and we spent the better part of fifteen years traversing the globe from base to base as he served our country in the US Army, and I climbed the corporate real estate ladder.” But, as is often the case, they missed our beautiful city, “While having often traveled to Buffalo for holidays and special occasions, I was always impressed and rejuvenated by each visit. To watch a city you love grow and change for the better is quite simply amazing. Each visit left me a little more homesick than the last. I have always dreamed of coming home, and most importantly investing in and helping to bring Buffalo back to glory.”
Now, she’s back! And Colleen is working to help make our community better. Stronger. She is a small business owner – and her business is a big hit, “I wanted to bring something unique and exciting to South Buffalo, something that would not only draw the local crowd, but also the greater WNY area as well.” So, she joined forces with Jillian Scarcello Cannan, also born and raised in South Buffalo, married to a South Buffalo native.
You can call it a South Buffalo reunion-turned-partnership. “Buffalo always has a piece of your heart no matter where you go. After spending almost ten years in Arizona they have finally returned “home.” Being away for so long makes you realize how unique Buffalo is. Everybody knows everybody and that’s an incredible and powerful thing.”
Both couples were amazed with the new Buffalo, “The transformation that Buffalo has made in the past few years has left us in complete amazement and our desire to be a part of this change is becoming a reality. We are looking to make our mark on this community and Buffalo Collective is going to help us do just that.” It turns out that investigating in the community they love has been an incredible adventure, “Every day is something new and better that the last, I look forward to what the future has in store. Being able to bring a unique and one of a kind experience to South Buffalo and seeing everyone’s excitement has been more than I could have ever hoped for.”
So head over to Buffalo Collective, have a glass of wine, catch up with friends, and use some power tools and paint! You can do it – Colleen has total faith in you. And me. All of us. Because, without fail, Colleen says the customers really like their finished product, “LOVE LOVE LOVE, and for the few that may slip up with the brush or have one to many glasses of wine, our instructors are trained to be able to help our guests leave with a piece they cant wait to hang up when they get home.
There’s also some big news coming from the Buffalo Collective folks, “Its a second location that will serve the Northtowns, we are so excited as it is close to the 290 entrance on Harlem road and the space is a lot bigger than our current studio so we will be able to host larger groups and parties.” That new location is set to open on May 1st.
CURRENT LOCATION: 391 Abbott Road, South Buffalo
NEW LOCATION: 4550 Harlem Road at the corner of Main Street, Snyder
